M: How do you like your tea, with milk or sugar?
W: Not too much milk and no sugar, please.
M: You look very sad today.
W: Yeah. It’s Carl. He was very angry with me yesterday and I was very angry with him, and so we had this big row and now we’re not talking to each other.
M: Look! The price of meat has gone up again.
W: I know. I had thought it was just in this store, but the situation is the same everywhere. So I decided to buy some fish instead of meat.
M: I’m still waiting for the clerk to come back and make some copies of this paper for me?
W: Why trouble him? I’ll show you how easy it is to work the machine.
W：Did you get some gas for the car?
M: Oh, I forgot. We’d better get some on our way back. Shall we get something to eat now?
W: I’m not hungry now. Let’s go for a mid-night dinner after the play.
W: Excuse me. I’m looking for Mr. Cousins.
M: Is that Mr. Cousins in Research and Development?
W: Er...yes, I think so.
M: Oh, his office isn’t on this floor. It’s on the fourth floor. Go up the stairs and turn left. At the end of the building turn right.
W: Up the stairs and left. Then right at the end of the building.
M: Yes. Look, I’ve got to go up there myself. I’ll show you where it is.
M: Welcome back! I didn’t see you in the history class on Friday.
W: I wasn’t here on Friday. My geography class went on a field trip to look at some of the different rocks. In fact, we slept there last night.
M: Really? That sounds excellent! Where did you go?
W: A desert. It gets hot during the day, but it cools off very quickly at night. It isvery dry there after the sun goes down.
M: Well, did you enjoy the trip?
W: Of course I did. The desert is nicer than you might think. Since there are so few plants growing there, it’s very easy to see different rocks. And the natural colors of the rocks shine in the sun. You really should go there to have a look.
M: I really want to gothere. You must call me if you have the chance to go there again.
W: No problem. I will be your guide next time.
W: Is there anything I can do for you?
M: Well, I’d like to buy a tennis racket, but there are so many here that I don’t know which one to choose.
W: How well do you play?
M: I’ve played only four times.
W: We have some very nice rackets for beginners. How much do you want to spend?
M: Not too much, because I don’t know yet whether I’ll actually take up the sport for long.
W: Then we have just the one for you. It’s ofgood quality and reasonably priced, and it’s especially made for beginners.
M: Oh, thank you.
W: It’s my pleasure. Just remember to come back here after a year when you are ready to upgrade your equipment.
M: You can count on it.
